WHY PREPARE IS NEEDED
01 Subject learning through relevance and depth
Research shows that students learn best when teaching is perceived as relevant, active and meaningful (Freeman et al., 2014). Prepare. uses games and practical activities as a learning context to:
- promote deep learning
- strengthen cross-curricular understanding
- provide opportunities for applying knowledge in new situations

02 Social and emotional development as a prerequisite for learning
A central strength of Prepare. is the systematic integration of social and emotional learning. Meta-analyses show that students who participate in structured SEL programmes achieve:
- better self-regulation and emotional control
- stronger relationships
- increased wellbeing
- improved academic results (Durlak et al., 2011)

03Inclusion, belonging and prevention of exclusion
Prepare. is particularly aimed at students who do not always find their place in traditional teaching methods. By highlighting different types of competence – technical, social, strategic and creative – the concept helps make "invisible students" visible.
Research shows that the experience of belonging is one of the strongest protective factors against school dropout (OECD, 2017). Prepare. creates structures where all students have a role and responsibility within the community.
Experiences from piloting in schools show:
